Elementary Update: September 6th-9th, 2016
Our elementary students have been really busy learning all kinds of things.
They’ve been exploring the history and science behind the creation of the universe, solar system, Earth and Earth’s features.
Students are also finishing up their study of land and water forms. Some students designed their own island! Students wrote a five paragraph paper describing their island. Other students used clay to make a replica of their island.
We’ve also been studying the classification of nouns. Our older students explored adverbial and prepositional phrases in their writing.
In math we’ve got a lot of learning going on! Many students are working on multiples, factors, prime and composite numbers. Other students are working on adding fractions with unlike denominators. In geometry, students have been studying different types of triangles and how they can be classified. And our younger students are studying shapes that are similar and congruent.
Next week, there is even more excitement as we will begin our Chemistry Unit!

Our elementary students enjoyed the South Carolina Aquarium on February 24th. We had a wonderful time seeing all the different exhibits. The aquarium had several hands-on exhibits that many of our students found fascinating and engaging. The video below shares some of our students experiences.
