Pre-Primary Room - age 2-3
Abner Montessori School's Pre-Primary program offers children who are age two by September 1st a wonderful environment designed to encourage their investigative nature with opportunities to explore, move, and manipulate materials with purposeful intent. Montessori recognized that when a child's mind is exposed to a rich and stimulating environment during this period, the brain will literally develop a much stronger and lasting ability to learn and accomplish.
Primary Room - age 3-6
Dr. Montessori discovered long ago that the child under the age of six has a miraculous ability to absorb their world around them. She called this special mind the "Absorbent Mind." The young child can absorb language, perfect movement and internalize order. Never will these sensitivities and abilities be more alive than in the early years of life.
Elementary
Abner Elementary provides an encouraging environment that allows a child to work at their one pace and gain an understanding of the core academic disciplines of Language, Reading, Math, History, Science, Geography, and Art. Our peaceful, non-competitive, environment helps to nurture a love of learning and strong community bonds that help the child grow socially and emotionally through a wide range of lessons and experiences.
Montessori Information
In 1907, Dr. Montessori's scientific background and studies of how children learn led her to establish the first "Children's House," which introduced the revolutionary concept of a child-centered environment. Find out more about the history and the method.
